Imagine a world where the freedom to binge watch seven, eight, or fifteen episodes of your favorite TV shows is nonexistent. This thought alone surely would evoke a unique terror in the hearts of many children, teenagers, and, funnily enough, adults as well. However, with the glorious invention of Netflix, people have been able to watch their favorite movies and television shows whenever they’d like, at whatever pace they’d like. Ever since Netflix was purchased in my household, I have been blessed with the opportunity to watch each season of Friends, The Office, Gossip Girl, and One Tree Hill. And even better, I was able to zoom through hours of episodes whenever I had a free moment to spare. Each show was at mercy of my remote. I could command my television to play any episode I wished, from any show that I wished, and within the next 60 seconds I would be watching it. My friends, with Netflix we now have the freedom to be kings and queens of our television sets, an authority we didn’t even know that we needed so desperately. There’s a sense of demand surrounding our world today. When we want something, we expect to receive it as quickly as possible, and when things don’t come to us as promptly as we’d like we get angry. It’s the way we’ve all been inclined to feel. Although we all know the world obviously doesn’t revolve around us, it’s difficult for us to act as though this fact is true. These factors are inherently dynamic, leading to many uncertainties and largely interconnected to different aspects of the organisation in a manner which forces organisations to consider them before formulating any decision of strategic importance (Hitt et al., 2011). These factors also affect organisational structure that is static in nature thereby making it difficult to adapt to changing environment and maintain its efficiency. Thus, attaining an appropriate fit between an organizations environment its strategy and structure is necessary for desired organizational performance (Wheelen and Hunger, 2012). The following report discusses different external and internal factors inherent in the business environment and risks arising out of them in context of Woolworths Holdings Limited. It aims to highlight the factors that drive the decision making process in the organisation which in turn affects its organisational structure, strategies and objectives. It further outlines the risks the organisation faces and business practices adopted by Woolworths in order to mitigate those risks. Discussion The following part discusses about the companys structure, different factors internal and external to the organisation that impact its strategies and the companys business practices. Organisational Structure Woolworths started in 1924as a small, entrepreneur dominated company with simple structure under the name Woolworths Stupendous Bargain Basement in Australia (Woolworths Limited, 2016). However, with its immense popularity and business success, the company grew to become a chain of stores all over the country. The organisation grew in its size and scope by diversifying its portfolio of products from merchandise and food items to liquor, electronics, furniture and homewares, hotels, financial services and clothing items. All this was achieved through organic growth along with acquisitions of major market players like Centralian Traders Pty Ltd., Dan Murphy, Dick Smith Electronics, 126 Australian Safeway Stores, and may more (Woolworths Limited, 2016). Thus, due to variety of unrelated product lines offered by Woolworths, the organisation now follows a conglomerate structure (Wheelen and Hunger, 2012). It operates three major divisions viz. Woolworths South Africa, based in Africa; David Jones, based and trading in Australia and Country Road Group based in Australia, New Zealand and SouthAfrica (WHL, 2016). This structure provides the organisation with the much needed flexibility, speed and adaptability to face and mitigate the dynamic business environment thereby building ambidextrous organisation (Schreygg and Sydow, 2010). External Analysis: External environment analysis is very important in any organization, as it cannot develop its strategies without analyzing external factors. External factors impact on performance and corporate strategies of business organizations (Libelli, 2016). To evaluate Woolworths external environment, Porters five forces model and PESTLE analysis can be used. PESTLE analysis: Under PESTLE analysis of Woolworths external factors such as- Political, Economical, Legal, Technological and Environmental are explained. Political factors are the political and legal regulation, which affect political stability, tax regulation and regional trading of Woolworths. Economical factors are especially important for international marketing of Woolworth such as interest rate, GDP, inflation and per capita income (Webster, 2010). Under the Social factors, religion, attitude, language, gender roles, and population size are included, which affect the human resource and marketing strategy of Woolworths. Technological factors refer to the new technological innovation, which is useful to improve the organizational structure and strategy of Woolworths (Solhaug and Stolen, 2010). Porters five forces model: From Porters five force analysis Woolworths can assess its position in the industry, based on its competitive strength. Bargaining power of Woolworths customers is extremely high except some stores which carter to a specific market. Bargaining power of supplier in retail industry depends upon the brand image and the size of the supermarket (Robertson, 2015). So the bargaining power of Woolworths supplier is high to moderate. In the supermarket industry, a number of substitutes are available for consumers, which is less costly, such as substitute product of Woolworths is easily available in the market. The relationship of Woolworths with the suppliers and requirement of own distribution center by new entrants is a barrier, so threat of new entrants is moderate for Woolworths (Humphries and Gibbs, 2015). The rivalry between the competitors of Woolworths is intense. Internal Factors In addition to external factors, an organisation is also influenced by internal factors like structure, culture, resources, etc. that provide it with distinct capabilities and advantages with respect to its competitors (Johnson et al., 2014). McKinsey 7-S Framework given by Thomas J. Peters and Robert H. Waterman is one such framework that can be used to identify interrelated factors that influence an organization (Bryan, 2008). The framework analyses the organisational strategic alignment with its resources based on 7 key internal factors: strategy, structure, systems, shared values, style, staff and skills (Ravanfar, 2015). In context of Woolworths, the company follows a conglomerate structure with three distinct divisions. Its strategy is four fold with focus on market leadership in food and liquor segment, build new business and expand its portfolio to increase shareholders wealth thereby enabling sustained and profitable growth (Woolworths Limited, 2016). Woolworths has in place systems and business practices like pet recycling, waste management, cloth bank, refrigeration system, etc. that helps the organisation it not only reduce its costs but also work ethically and reduce its environmental footprint. Woolworths trains its employees effectively to develop required skills that are useful in career progression and building knowledgeable organisation. The company has diversified staff strength of 198,300 with a turnover of 6.6%. It invests heavily in training, motivating and rewarding its staff to help them deliver business strategies and prepare them for leadership roles. The company adopts de-centralized style of decision-making and promotes communication transparency. The company has a strong value system that promotes sustainability through social cohesion, advancement through education and environmental awareness. These values are shared by its suppliers, employees, customers and other stakeholders (Business Journey Report, 2015). Thus, these internal factors help Woolworths in building a highly engaged, innovative, and successful business. Woolworths Risk, Governance and Legal Requirements Risk refers to uncertainty, which surround the future events and outcomes. Risk measures the uncertainty that an investor is willing to take, to gain from an investment. Competition risk is increasing for existing firms as well as for new entrant, which may adversely affect the profitability level of Woolworths Limited (Annual report, 2015). There are some other risks, which affect the profitability and the level of exposure of Woolworths Limited such as- legal risk, political risk, economical risk, financial risk and socio-culture risk. Political risk relates to political action or policies, which are posed by foreign government. Political risk affects the expansion strategy of Woolworths. This risk also affects the supply chain management of the company (Harrison, 2013). To mitigate the political risk, risk acceptance approach is followed by Woolworths limited in which financial crisis are to be managed. Legal risk refers to the risk related to the taxation policies and employee management regulations of Woolworths Limited (McKeller, 2012). Human rights risk is also included in the legal risk. For the legal risk mitigation, risk acceptance approach is used by Woolworths Limited, under which anti-competitive strategy is used. Economical and financial risks both are parallel to each other. Recession and unemployment has strongly affected the profitability and sales of Woolworths limited. The condition of organization has decline due to financial crisis. As such, company faces many problems related to the strategic implementation or business decision making structure (Coleman and Young, 2010). For mitigation of financial and economical risk, risks transferences approach is used. Under this approach hedging process is used by Woolworths to reduce the credit risk and market risk by transferring it to third party. Social risk refers to operating different socio-culture activities in the environment. Under this food security, education to local communities, child vulnerability and safety risks are included by Woolworths Limited. It conducts training workshops for its store employees through the GBJ champ program. It donates surplus food from stores to charities, which would otherwise go to landfill. Woolworths is also committed to introduce programs which support recycling of customers waste and reduced use of plastic bag to minimize the adverse impact on the environment. From this report it can be concluded that, the organization follows conglomerate structure for maintain flexibility and fluidity in working process. The company faces intense competition due to easy availability substitute products and services but is able to exercise cost leadership as a result of its well integrated supply chain and moderate bargaining power of its suppliers. The organisation is exposed to many risks from its external environment. However, economic risks like 2008 financial crises and legal risks related to labor and tax laws critically impacts its workings. Moreover, it was found that Woolworths has adopted positive business practices related to waste management, water management and other environment friendly programs that not only reduce its environmental impact but also helps in saving costs and resources. Also, the company has in place well structured programs related to differ ent functional areas that make it efficient and effective in delivering organisational objectives. Recommendations From the above report, it is recommended that Woolworths should improve their organizational structure so that complexity between the different levels of functions is reduced. Woolworths should also adopt a social media strategy to take advantage of low-cost promotional activities of the organization (Kaplan and Haenlein, 2010). It is recommended that the company should improve its CSR activities to reduce its environmental footprint. This in turn will help in improving its goodwill and enhancing its brand image. Woolworths should introduce some nationwide program to support recycling of waste by providing recycling facilities. Additionally, it should improve its supply chain management with the help of SEDEX that is helpful to manage its supply chain ethically and build better relationship with suppliers. It has to be admitted that most of the time this happens due to economical reasons, and the phenomenon of mass media has to be mentioned in this context as well. Therefore it becomes even more important to be able to understand cultures of different life-styles. But the success or failure of communication does not only depend on how well a language is spoken, but also on intonation and body language. Dr. Mehrabian, a prominent and successful psychologist, is perhaps best known for the investigation of the role of non-verbal communication. He published findings indicating that spoken words only account for 7% of what a listener perceives. The remaining 93% of what a listener comprehends originate from the speaker's body language and tone employed in the delivery of the words. Not only because of studies like this, non-verbal communication plays an important role when studying language in its social context. A very interesting topic in this large field is politeness, since forms of politeness are often misinterpreted and lead to misunderstandings. So I chose to have a closer look at the differences between politeness in Chinese and English. Since it is very difficult to collect data concerning politeness in the language of Chinese, this paper is theory-based only. Nevertheless, many books that cover this topic can be found. Some of the books used for the research of this paper were written by native speakers of Chinese, which is an indication for the author's competence of the language. Therefore, collecting additional data would not only have been difficult, but also inefficient. This paper will deal with the topic of request strategies used by speakers of the People's Republic of China and the terms of address in Chinese and English. Besides, it will focus on request strategies across societal structures and social groups. In addition, it will discuss the concept of limao, the traditional concept of politeness in China. This paper will not allow to cover all important issues concerning this topic, but it shall give a rough overview and should give the reader an incentive to have a closer look at this field of study. 2. Politeness - a theoretical approach The theory of Brown and Levinson, published in 1987, focuses on communicative strategies and how these strategies are realized structurally and lexically in languages. This theory describes two levels of communication, namely the surface level and the underlying level. As Lee- Wong points out, "on the surface level, the maxims are deemed to be infringed but on the underlying level, the Cooperative Principle is still at work, i.e. conversation is still seen as purposive and rational." (Lee- Wong 2000: 18) Whereas Brown and Levinson look at the phenomenon from a socio- psychological perspective, Leech sees the role of politeness as essentially social. According to him a successful interaction does not only depend on the assumption of the Cooperative Principle, but the Politeness Principle plays an even more important role. So the more costly the request is, the greater the degree of politeness has to be. Besides these theories there exist a number of theoretical approaches concerning politeness. Other examples would be the "concept of politic behaviour" by Watts or the socio-psychological approach by Janney and Arndt, just to mention a few. Generally speaking, all these theories are either orientated toward the conceptualisation of politeness as a pragmatic means of conflict avoidance or as a form of ritual routine. Therefore politeness can be seen both as a norm-oriented phenomenon and as a strategy. This perspective emphasizes that politeness is context-bound. So an utterance that is perceived as polite in one context might be interpreted differently in another because of contextual features such as relative social relationship and power. In order to understand politeness in modern China it is necessary to look at its past since politeness can only be explained with the help of knowledge of Chinese traditions. After Daisy comes to a party at his house, Gatsby shares with Nick that Daisy did not like it. We’d sit for hours† (Fitzgerald 109). Gatsby realizes that Daisy does not see things the same way she did five years earlier.For some reason, he cannot let go of what he used to have with Daisy, and all Jay wants is to go back and start where they left off. Gatsby is plagued with trying to repeat the past, and it motivates many of his actions. On the other hand, there is Daisy. She tries to convince herself that she never loved Tom, but she cannot admit it to Tom because it would be a lie. During Tom and Gatsby’s confrontation, Daisy forces herself to tell Tom that she â€Å"never loved him†, although he makes her question herself further when reminding her of â€Å"that day I [Tom] carried you down from the Punch Bowl to keep your shoes dry?† (Fitzgerald 132). This reinforces Daisy’s feelings and she finally tells Gatsby, â€Å"Oh you want too much! I love you know- isn’t that enough? I can’t help what’s past† (Fitzgerald 132). Psychologically, Daisy feels as though she has wasted time with Tom. She wants to be with Jay but is unable to give him what he wants. Because Daisy loves Gatsby it motivates many of her actions. Even though she attains the notion of never loving Tom, it is not true. 4. Looking through a feminist lens we see Myrtle and Daisy trapped in patriarchal roles. Myrtle’s role as Tom’s mistress keeps her in just that position- Tom’s mistress.Although Tom loves Myrtle very much, and is devastated when she is killed, Daisy is still his wife. When Tom takes Myrtle to their flat in New York she complains, â€Å"Daisy! Daisy! Daisy! † and then with â€Å"a short deft movement, Tom Buchanan broke her nose with his open hand† (Fitzgerald 37). Myrtle is stuck in her role as mistress. She tries to make Tom leave Daisy, and he quickly puts her in place. Instead of staying with Tom, as his mistress, Myrtle needs to give him an ultimatum- her or Daisy; however, Tom keeps her in a patriarchal role through intimidation.On the contrary, Daisy feels trapped with Tom, and wishes that she could have been with Gatsby all along. Daisy tries to tell Tom that she is leaving him for Gatsby, and then things escalate. Tom pushes Gatsby to the breaking point and he â€Å"explodes† on Tom. This frightens Daisy much, and Jay tries to talk to Daisy, though â€Å"With every word she was drawing further and further into herself†¦ Her frightened eyes told that whatever intentions, whatever courage she had had, were definitely gone† (Fitzgerald 134-135). Daisy, just like Myrtle is held in a patriarchal role through intimidation.She sees how angry Gatsby gets because of the accusations Tom makes about him, and she retreats to Tom. It is somewhat evident that Tom intimidates Daisy, although the burst of anger from Jay is what ultimately puts her back into her male-controlled role under Tom. Although they are different, Myrtle and Daisy are similar in their patriarchal roles. 5. Looking through a Marxist lens we see the dangers of capitalism- carelessness. Daisy and Tom prove that wealth can make people careless, and self centered. Daisy proves to be self centered, as she seems to care littleabout her child. When Gatsby and Nick come for lunch the maid brings the child into the room, which makes Daisy happy for a while, and then she, â€Å"sat back down on the couch. The nurse took a step forward and held out her hand†¦ the well-disciplined child held out her hand and was pulled out the door† (Fitzgerald 117). Because Daisy has money she can afford a maid to take care of her daughter all the time. She hardly at mentions the child at all throughout the novel, and certainly does not make choices with her daughter in mind.The readers sense a very little relationship between Daisy and her child. Because of Daisy’s wealth she seems to have very little time for anyone but herself, thus proving her negligence. A maid raises her child, brings her around every once in a while, and when Daisy has had her fill, she merely sits back down. Together, Tom and Daisy take two lives. Daisy kills Myrtle while driving Gatsby’s car, and Tom wrongfully pins the murder of Myrtle on Gatsby, urging Wilson to kill Gatsby.Daisy does nothing about Myrtle, and Tom knows he is somewhat responsible for Gatsby’s death, â€Å"So what if I told him [Wilson]† (Fizgerald 178). When Nick runs into Tom in New York, Tom remarks about Gatsby, â€Å"That fellow had it coming to him (Fitzgerald 178). On the day of Gatsby’s funeral, Nick recollects, â€Å"that Daisy hadn’t sent a message or a flower† (Fitzgerald 174). After all she goes through with Gatsby, and all she puts him through, Daisy does not have the decency to make even the smallest gesture.Nick is able to finally reach to a conclusion about Daisy and Tom, â€Å"They were careless people, Tom and Daisy- they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever is was that kept them together, and let other people clean up th e mess that they has made† (Fitzgerald 179). By not individualizing the hand, it makes it seem like it's not one person's hand in particular, rather the common hand, or the hand of the human race.

What I quickly noticed was that the environment was not as quiet as I had expected it would be. I had done a bit of research into Jazz music prior to the concert and I expected the audience to be dead quiet and listening attentively to the music. This was not the case as part of the crowd was unbearably noisy as compared to other concerts I have been to. This select part of the crowd did not seem to appreciate the truly beautiful music that was being performed. In past concerts I have been in, loud conversations and disruptive noises were not allowed as this was seen to be distracting the performers as well as the audience who were listening attentively. I was amazed though at how well the musicians performed despite this. It was almost as if they had anticipated it. I believe this goes to prove that these musicians can perform anywhere and still do a stellar jo b. The whole time I was there, I listened closely to the music, watched the performer go through the motions and I felt like my mind and emotions wandered in between the melodies. I must admit that I enjoy the guitar most since my childhood, so watching and listening to John Pisano playing it was very rewarding. I got wrapped up in his playing and got a thrill watching him strum the guitar. This song had a constant tempo; it was slow, funky and had an earthy sound to it which made it sound more like the blues.... Strategic Issue Analysis Investing in a particular business, demands a marketing research or audit. Following the corporations aim, which is to be the leader in entertainment communication, according to Virgin Media website, it provides a wide range of products to serve consumers wants and needs by focusing on entertainment and 3D technology with design and suitable for customers lifestyle. There are main three category of product, which is divided by usage and customers lifestyle as following: Daily life tool, Communication Entertainment, and Style Statement. Firstly, daily life tool is the mobile phone which is produced for customers who want just only basis of communication which could be linked with the mobile telephony business. The strategic concern here is the launch of the 3D TV, which is supposed to boost the Virgin Media Inc. Considering the modernity, and new customer or coverage of this new product. Certain things need to be taken into consideration; segmentation process which covers the consumer behaviour, social influences, personal influences and psychological influences (Drummond et al, 1999, p.51-59). This plan takes issues such as services, after service, customer relations management and promotion, quality products and service delivery are crucial. However, it is crucial to drive total sales unit by attracting customer with a great deal. This can be achieved by applying Ansoffs Growth Strategies (Wood, 2007), to decide which area might be suitable for this plan, the decision is made by choosing market penetration. This penetration strategy of Virgin may help it in the long-term. The company will be able to penetrate well into the market segments left untouched. This will lead the organization towards a better position in the market. The company uses its different segment of products to penetrate simultaneously into the different market segments. Virgin strictly follows the marketing concept to sell its products all acros s. Their focus is on branding the products for increased sales. Furthermore, customer relationship management has become an important factor for Virgin, as the performance outcomes are categorized as customer loyalty, profitability, customer satisfaction and the market share (George A. Day Robin Wensley, 1988). Marketing Strategies Virgin should make use of segmentation strategy of market, based on the 4Ps of marketing (Kotler, 2006). They should select their two products 3D TVs for entertainment and the TV for transfer of information etc. Firstly, the 3D TV shall be sold to users who want just the comfort of the 3D entertainment. While the second type of TVs are for those looking for different applications on their TV for the transfer of information or use of the internet (Style Statement). Those who make purchase just for entertainment include children and homemakers, shall be targeted for the first type of product. Some people, who are professional by nature, and are more involved in the information transfer, shall be targeted for second type of product. The product chosen for discussion in the below sections is TV. Product Virgin Media produces a variety of products to serve any market segmentation with wide-range of prices depending on what features fit in customers needs. The customers have many choices to purchase other HD TVs or TVs with multimedia benefits, which are suitable for their lifestyle. According to the Product/segment analysis grid, Wood (2007), there are three categories for Virgin media TV. Their product (TV) is aimed to wide range of market segment. Thus, the company can achieve economies of scale by selling its products all across. Considering the products by using Product Life-Cycle Marketing Strategies, Kotler et al (2009), it has some products extinct from the market but it has also the products which resurrection to the market as well. Price The impact of the economy crisis, slow down the purchasing power and customer spending behaviour, during gift-giving holiday as Christmas and New Year are the special occasions for European. However, the pricing of their TVs is fit to the market today. The products range from HD TVs to the simple TVs for wide range of genera. Thus, the company here focuses on earning revenues from low involvement TVs by achieving economies of scale, while good margin on high involvement TVs. The information from Mintel mention that the average amount spent on gift for family and friends this Christmas was 370 pounds (Mintel 2007). This simply implies that for a product such as the 3D TV videos on demand, the price would be much affordable for subscribers and it would focus on a particular class of the society at first, which are the high earners and early technology adopters. (See Appendix 2). Place One of the marketing mix elements that would be the key success factor for any business is distribution channel. The channel, which could approach to the customer directly, should be the suitable way to increase profit in short term. Virgin thus makes use of the retailers distributed worldwide, to sell its products. From this fact, it leads the marketing department to choose direct marketing in term of e-marketing to be the channel and also using the existing channel that distribute product to retailer and the retailer sells to customers which means the company is using dual distribution for this marketing plan and selective distribution. The competitive advantage of online marketing is lower costs and prices. According to the accumulated deficit of the company, the department desire to lighten the load of companys expenditure by developing the website to sell the product. Promotion Just like the place, there should be multiple ways of communicating the benefits and awareness of the new product. Promotion could be through the following ways; Internet marketing, magazine, television to mention but a few (Appendix 3). The company uses promotion strategy as advertisements and various promotional plans randomly for selling its TVs. Virgin gains competitive advantage against its competitors due to its wide range of quality products. Continuous research and development by the company helps it to introduce new products into the market. These products, with big brand attached to it, sells in the market to gain revenues. Additionally, the long lasting existence of the company shows its expertise and experience in the industry. The company thus has linked with large number of retailers indirectly, to distribute the products directly to its end consumers. The company does not stand up with high pricing. Their pricing strategy is worth the brand value they have achieved. They stand well in the market with strong base. Thus, it suggests their pricing fit for upper-middle class of people. Marketing- An approach to success Marketing in itself is not an easy phenomenon. It varies from one geographic location to the other. For Virgin, the company analyses well the different approaches for selling its products at different places. For example, for selling its products in US, the products should be trendy and luxurious. The products shall be sold showing their fade. However, for countries such as India, China and Malaysia, the company shall use promotional strategies using the local cultural approach. The company offers huge discounts during cultural timings in these countries. This raises the sales of their products. Company also uses traditional means of representing their products as cost effective and as value to price. For this, Virgin promotes its products to grab the attention of both, end consumers and organizations. Selling to end consumer focuses on the benefits attached with the product for home use. To ‘urbanise’ is to ‘make (a rural area) more industrialized and urban’ , urban meaning ‘of or living in a city or town’ . Marja C.V. Vink argues that â€Å"The word urbanization was used for the first time in Spain a little more than one hundred years ago† to show the â€Å"quantitative and qualitative growth if cities† . The degree of urbanisation is quite different when comparing towns or cities of antiquity to the modern understanding of an urban centre; however, essentially it is the same process. When talking about the rise of urbanisation in the Mediterranean region 3 main civilisations spring to mind, firstly the Greeks who were inspired by advanced civilisations of the Near East. Secondly, the Etruscans who ruled central Italy from the eighth century to the third century B.C. when the last Etruscan cities fell to Rome. Etruria was bordered to the south by the River Tiber and to the north by the River Arno. City states developed in Etruria in the eighth and seventh centuries B.C., and â€Å"by the last decades of the eighth century B.C. the centres which had undergone the process of urbanization and social diversification had acquired some of the status of cities.† Etruria flourished until the Gauls invaded in the fourth century B.C. From 616-509 Etruscan kings ruled over Rome. Finally, the Romans dating back to 753 B.C. with the founding of Rome by Romulus. Urbanisation is synonymous with cities. It seems impossible to consider a civilisation ‘urbanised’ if it does not have urban centres. So what is an urban centre? And why were these urban centres needed? Looking at what the cities consisted of can help one answer these questions. In Greece the most obvious choice for studying the process of urbanisation is Athens. I have chosen Marzabotto as the example of an urban centre for Etruria and finally, for the Roman Empire I have chosen Rome. These three cities all adapted to the needs of their population and the one thing common to all three is a cult centre. The first urban centres were certainly not Roman, however once urbanised Rome surpassed any of the Greek or former Etruscan cites in terms of monumentalisation. My view got cloudier by the second- as my eyes filled with salted tears. I could not believe that my biggest fear had just become my reality. My whole world had been flipped within a twenty minute phone call. As hours and hours had passed and I had regained my composure, I tried to wrap my mind around what was happening. As I looked at the wall I started to focus on the little black hole again. It is the smallest things that stand out. Even though the ratio of the size of the wall compared to the little hole did not even compare to one another, that little hole is what made the wall unique and stand out from the other three that surrounded me.A selection of 4 different felt cloths.Right then and there I realized that it is the most miniscule things that make life unique and that are why it is so precious.April 8, 2014: It was a normal Tuesday. I woke up got ready for school, spent my day wishing I was home, then as soon as I got home rushed to make sure I was to work on time. I have exactly thirty-five minutes from the time I get home from school to the time I need to be clocked in at work. That gives me enough time to change clothes and make a phone call or two. I knew my "adopted father" had a doctor's appointment earlier that morning, so I figured I'd call to check up on him. When I called his phone rang twice and then went to voicemail. So that... Personal Narrative Personal Narrative Even if there were a chance to change my life, I would ignore it. Now, I am at the point when I clearly understand that everything has a reason. Moreover, everything that happened with me, no matter pleasant or not, I perceive as a lesson. I am grateful to those people whom I met. All my experience is a part of me. Now, I lead a life of an average white middle class female. Until the age of eight, I happily lived with my parents; we spent time together, sometimes traveled a little bit. However, I cannot say that everything was fine. Once, I woke up in the morning and understood that there was no us anymore. For me, a little girl, it was important to be a part of something big. In this case, family was the most important thing for me. Of course, I had friends and classmates, but the family was the only thing I identified myself with being a part of the society. After my parents got divorced, I stayed with my mother; the farther emerged in my life only on weekends. We often moved to new places that helped my mom to hide her pain. I changed places as mittens and tried to find a place of my own like my mother. The time passed by. When I was twenty, in one of the clubs, I met Warren. He was from Britain. That night, we spent around two hours in the conversation. That was the beginning of our romantic relationships, and less than in two months, I packed my bags and moved to England. Later, we got married; however, I cannot say that we lived happily ever after. In terms of the culture, Britain is totally opposite to the USA. I felt not in my plate as everything was new for me starting from the language. The way people think, act, behave, and treat each other was often not clear. Nevertheless, I tried to stay positive. I had a job, but it did not help to make my living in Britain colorful and bright. With Warren, we tried to make our marriage work; however, nothing helped. After two and a half years, we decided to split up and have a chance to live the lives we wanted, but separately. Smashed and lost, I returned to the USA. From the perspective of the years, I can suggest that in the relationships I had, I inherited a model of behavior from my parents. The way I acted was quite similar to that I saw being a child. In my desire to run away, I forgot that no matter where I go, I would always take my self with me. With time and new experiences, I developed stronger personality and some useful psychological skills (Cherry, 2005). According to Ericson, people need to experience the conflict, which often becomes the turning point (Ibid). The first stage in the development of personality is Trust vs. Mistrust. According to Ericson, it is one of the fundamental periods in life of every person experienced during the first year of living. In case the attempts of developing trust fail, the person will experience fear. The last five years were the years of challenges and discoveries for me. I understood that the kind of a person I am now is the result of the previous decisions and choices. In the society of superstitions, I probably should be successful in everything that I start. However, we are the part of the society and, according to its laws, everyone plays his/her role. William Shakespeare mentioned this in the 16th century. For some people, you are a good friend; the others see only enemy in you. The only person ready to worship you for your being is mother; her love is unconditional. I cannot say that religion is a huge part of my life. In my opinion, there is a difference between belief and religion. Nevertheless, my parents and their generation were brought up with the beliefs of the recent times. Religion has few main functions that can be called 5T: transmission, translation, transaction, transformation, and transcendence (Campbell, 2010). Usually, people are lost in terms of religion and try to find substitution of it. Modern culture suggests a wide range of them. There is an opportunity to choose, but often, there is no opportunity to reject. Culture is a complex of beliefs and peculiarities of behavior of the ethnicity or a race (Zion Kozleski, 2005). Often, our culture causes misunderstanding, which was probably the main reason why we broke up with Warren. We were different and similar at the same time. Instead of concentrating on what we had, we were looking for something that was missing. For me, it was important to identify myself and learn to fight w ith confusion. After being misled, I tried to understand what I like and who I am. The answer to these two questions helped me to start my life from the new chapter and to find strength to develop and learn. I started working at Texas Department of Criminal Justice. I cannot say that my work is easy, but I really like it. My main job is held inside the prison. I work with inmates and try to help them to arrange their life before getting out. I know that often, it is a shock for people to start everything over again. Although I do not assume that I killed all my fears, I hope that my experience will help others to overcome their fears. Everyone around me appears in my life on time. In this situation, it is only my decision to get the message or stay aside. This is a psychological rule. If the persons development is under stagnation and despair, it is quite hard to turn to the starting point and find strength. The same can be said about my studying. This is a chance for me to understand my individual differences and learn my inner self. Only after this, I can help others.

The whole city situation left the shopkeepers and businessmen to calculate their losses particularly in the Wulfruna Street, Dudley Street, Princess Street, etc. The real loss was done by the rioters in the Queen Square who were all youngsters prowling the city in congregation. According to the police the number of riots was up to 300 who were there in the Dudley Street at the ending time. These rioters were running in the city, cause
